Portadown Boat Club Summer School
Portadown Boat Club Summer School will again be running during the first two weeks of August 2010 beginning Monday 2nd. The school will run from Monday to Friday, both weeks, from 10am until 4pm and kids between the ages of 12 and 18 are welcome. The cost is £50 per child with a reduction to £35 for more than 1 family member.

Carrick on Shannon Sprints

As always at this time of the year the club headed west to Carrick on Shannon to take part in their sprint regatta held on the 1st August 2010. Due to holiday committments representation wasn't as high as in previous years but a great weekends racing was had by all. The club managed two wins with medals for Eimear McCavanagh and Mary McCann, winning the Womens Junior 18 Double and Pamela Toal, winner of the Womens Junior 18 scull.

 International Honours

Congratulations to James Hanna who has been selected to row for Ireland at this years Home Internationals. Everyone in the club wishes James all the best in this years competition.


 Belfast Sprints

There was success for the club at this years Belfast Sprints Regatta. James Hanna won two medals, the first in the Junior 18 single scull and then the senior double with his partner Stefan McIlveen.

SportNI Funding

The club was successful in obtaining a grant from SportNI to promote our Women on the Water programme. The grant has allowed the club to purchase two new boats which will provide additional capability for training and competition.

Sport Comes to Town

Portadown Boat Club will be participating in the inaugural Sport Comes to Town event which takes place from 24th June until the 26th June 2010. The event, organised by the Sports Institute for Northern Ireland (SINI), is aimed at increasing participation in sport in the Portadown area.

As part of this event he club will be holding a fun regatta on Saturday the 26th June and will also have a stand in the exhibition area of the Meadows Shopping Centre. 

Sir Steve Redgrave, five times Olympic Gold Rowing Medalist will be visiting the club on Thursday the 24th June when we hope to have a naming ceremony for the new boats funded by the SportNI grant.
